Stillewaters German Shepherd Dogs



	Jan Troxell and Bonnie Smith Born and Raised in Chicago, IL Born and Raised in Providence, RI form the partnership know as Stillwaters German Shepherds. Both Jan and Bonnie showed horses while Jan also showed Basset Hounds and Saint Bernards. We met in Elk City, Oklahoma in 1991, where we both still reside. We partnered on several business adventures and a partnership with the Shepherds just came naturally. Although not the first Shepherd, Star "Jak-Mar's Star Dust on Pineywood" is considered by most to be the start of Stillwaters. Star was purchased from Mary Searle and Christine Taylor. From Star we would breed and raise our own puppies. We had several wonderful puppies from Star. However, when Lucy came along, we could not resist the temptation to show. Lucy's brother, Karl was given to then 13 year old Lauren Schmitz. Lauren, with some help from a handler finished both these dogs. We now had our first homebred champions, Ch. Stillwaters Justan Illusion (Lucy) and Ch. Jak-Mar's Stardust Signature, TC (Karl). Our dogs are for the most part owner handled and enjoy showing as much as we do. At home, they enjoy long runs much more than Mom does. We breed hoping always to improve the German Shepherd Dog. We firmly believe that a good dog will be sound of mind and body. To this end, we OFA our dogs and temperament is our most important concern when matching a pair of Shepherds for breeding. With our increasing success, we find ourselves breeding fewer litters and keeping more puppies for ourselves. Unfortunately, there are always far to many to keep and the remaining pups are placed in other homes. We have placed dogs as pets and in show homes. However, we really enjoy our pups that have been placed with Junior Exhibitors. We feel the Junior Exhibitors deserve as much help and guidance as we can provide. We are proud of the success they have achieved with our dogs. Along with our dogs, we enjoy our 4 horses, gardening and Koi keeping.
